I realized I was gluten intolerant in September of 2007. I didn't bother getting tested for Celiac because I didn't want it to be an insurance issue.
In March of 2008, a doctor ran a gluten antibody test without telling me first. It came back negative. "Well of course it came back negative," I said. "I haven't been eating gluten for 6 months."
A gastroenterologist encouraged me to do a genetic test in late April. I agreed, but the paperwork got messed up and it didn't happen.
I finally got around to retesting a few weeks ago, and it turns out that I have a genetic profile that gives me a high probability of having celiac.
Nuts.
But it gets me thinking. Do the genes that predispose me for Celiac also affect how my body deals with Lyme? I haven't come across much yet that explores this.
It never ceases to amaze me how little research has been done on Lyme.

In my opinion, Lyme causes an "allergy disease," similar in nature to the autoimmune issues it can also spur. I never had seasonal allergies until the tick bite, and I've talked to far too many people who also developed allergies after getting infected. Too much for coincidence, the way I see it.

Yeah, interestingly, I don't test positive for much in the way of having allergies except for dust.
Celiac is actually considered an autoimmune condition rather than an allergy, though I'm not entirely sure why.

In addition to the anomalous test results for autoimmune stuff I have gotten back, I also tested allergic to oats - OATS! I have been eating oat stuff all my life without issues, till now...The celiac test came back negative tho'. When something is plaguing your immune system all sorts of resonant issues seem to occur (IMHO)

Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I've come to. I haven't had the heart to get tested for food allergies; my stomach gives me all sorts of grief, but I hate going to doctors....
