I'm only 27 and haven't had a proper diagnosis for very long.... so I feel out of the loop a little. I get IDSA vs. ILADS. I get that LDA and LymeNet are considered by some here to be too anti-scientific, and cliquish. And that they banned some people.
But beyond that....
Was LymeNet Eupope started by Europeans or Americans?
Why have this board in addition to LNE?
There's sci.med.diseases.lyme and Scilyme2 and over at Yahoo Groups there's Lyme-Aid and Lymeinfo and others.
Why so many different groups? It seems like there's a lot of overlap in membership.
I'm just feeling a bit lost.

I hear you. Lyme is a lot like religion, in that groups form around differing priorities even when they agree on "the canon" and get quite emotional about what differences in "the facts" do emerge. I think this is because, like religion, you can't "prove" you are right! If there was a definitive test and a definitive treatment Lyme would be more like other diseases. I have been to all the forums and sites you mentioned...But i find this one the most balanced and pragmatic.

LNE is administrated by a European, and was started around the same time as this site. Do we need both LNE and the Lyme Enigma? I'm not sure if that's anymore pertinent than asking if we need both LymeNet and HealingWell; philosophically they're similar, but they both have their own varying groups of long-term regulars.
I keep this site going because it contains a wealth of information, and little to no spin; I consider it a personal archive for our small group, here. The only people who post here regularly are concerned with getting as close as possible to solving the "puzzle," and not following every little fad as it hits, concerned with being part of a clique, or amiable to any of the current "truths" being pushed by either of the camps. Most of us don't post daily.
Much can also be said for LNE; the only real difference between the sites is that the Lyme Enigma was abandoned by LymeNet refugees, for refusing to show bias between different IDSA and ILADS doctors, whereas LNE is the forum of choice for people who believe ILADS doctors are our only option, but reject most of (not all) of the alternative medicine protocols. I post at LNE. It's a good site, although I don't see completely eye to eye with all of its members.
