Went to my new PCP, second visit. She wants me to go back to an LLMD-but I told her I can't afford one. So now I have referrels to an Infectious Disease Doc, endocrinologist, rheumatologist, gastroenterologist, neurologist.
Seems the only umbrella treatment for Lyme is with an LLMD. She is boggled by the complexity of my medical issues. I told her I really just wanted to go to one Doctor-but she said it's way beyond her-and "frightening".
Crap. I went to all these type of specialists before my diagnosis-and all I got was a collection of bobble heads.
I left her office and just made it to the closest restroom-something about the Deja Vue of it all triggered a bunch of nuts.
Lyme is not incapacitating me now, but I know the quality of my life could be better- it's the pain and fatigue-and I don't want to just slog my way through.
HUMPH
Well, by for now, it's raining. Maybe it's the rain that has me aching.
She wants me to see her on a monthly basis-and she's doubled the time allowance for appointments until we can figure this out. She's on my side, but hopelessly mainstream. POOH

I feel for you Cobby, nothing more emotionally distressing than a washout with a new doctor. at least she was honest She could have been one of those arrogant twits who would rather die (or cause you to) than admit she was in over her head. Pain and fatigue - definitely the biggest on the plate for me as well. What do you take for pain? I fear I am getting to easy with the Tramadol ;D

When do you see her next? Maybe you could suggest some reading materials for her? How comfortable are you talking to her about some of the more controversial issues?
Have you checked all of your avenues, where the bowel issues are concerned? The reason I ask: I had a friend years ago who always "had the trots," and it turned out she had a tumor in her colon. Is that a possibility, or has the cause to that already been diagnosed?
Thanks for the book recommendation, Enoch; it's always nice to have new reading materials.
*edited for clarity.

I see her again in a month-which would be December something. Have only five minutes to post-on my break.
I had colonoscopy done 2 years ago- complete waste, highly traumatic, jerk doctor, projectile vomiting, nothing conclusive. No tumors detected.
Was given script for runs. Jerk. chaulked it all up to IBS.
Anyway- new doc has given referrel to another gastro guy/gal. I'll check it out.
I just take advil for pain-and live with it. I do not want to get involved with real painkillers. I think my pain is mostly of the arthritic variety. We'll see.
Gotta Go...Later all.

I'm right there with you, on not wanting to go beyond ibuprofen for pain; I have a whole bottle of hydrocodone that's been sitting in the fridge since March ... I think I've taken two or three pills, but that's it ... and I was in serious, gut wrenching pain. I fear painkillers. I've seen them destroy too many people, and I know my personality way too well to discount the possibilities....
Sorry you had such a bad experience with the colonoscopy ... makes me fear middle age....
Let us know if you get any new info with the referral.
