I've heard and read that Lymies need to avoid sugar, but I can't figure out why except to avoid yeast infections.
I don't understand what people mean about sugar "feeding" the Lyme.

I haven't the foggiest. When I was on antibiotics, I reduced my sugar intake to avoid yeast issues, but I'm at a complete loss as to any other reasons (beyond those with diabetes) why Lymies should avoid sugar. I practically live off Ovaltine, which is clearly sweetened, and it has yet to offset my remission.
Maybe someone else has some idea...?

When newly diagnosed i went to my first support group meeting and was delighted to see refreshments on a side table- then someone told me they were all sugar free-and people with lyme had to avoid sugar- what a bummer moment.
My LLMD told me to use Stevia- but I can't for the life of me remember specifically why Lymies have to avoid sugar- Like you said the bacteria thrives on sugar.
