About five months ago I beat an infection with the WA-1 strain of babesia (1:640 titer), and I noticed that my hot flashes, among a few other symptoms, went away at that time. Perhaps these hot flashes were not hormonal in nature, but I know that many women going through peri-menopause experience hot flashes because of fluctuating hormone levels.
I'm wondering if others have experienced hot flashes, or other possible hormone-related symptoms with their babesia infection?

I also had bouts of cyclic vomiting that lasted one to three days, usually revolving around my menstrual cycle ... however, now that I think of it, that seemed to end after a ten-day treatment with Avelox ... maybe the vomiting was caused by some other infection the Avelox knocked out?

Too many variables in the mix to sort out. I have just about zilch estrogen in my system-total hysterectomy, also taking Raloxafin(sp) to block estrogen because of breast disease.
Oncologist and Urogynecologist at odds on what I can take.
Oncologist says no no no to any estrogen products. Urogynecologist prescribes estrogen cream and tells me it will not contribute to breast cancer.
LLMD and I can't figure out if my sweats, hot and cold, are due to menopause or not.

I had hot flashes before my period this month ... and then a migraine, complete with vomiting. I don't feel like the babesia is back, but something is definitely up with my hormones.

Google Marilynn Barkley.
A doc at UCDavis who had Lyme and I think Babs.
She spoke to our support group several times, back in the day.
Treated herself with LONG term IV
And she had a special interest in women and Lyme

My daughter and I are on a good bio-identical progesterone cream. It makes a difference

I might look into that. The hot flashes are definitely back, and whatever is contributing to that is now messing with my menstrual cycle, as well. I'm wondering it the plaquenil might have been helping with all of that ... either that, or I need to be considering relapse in one form or another (God, please do not let it be the babs....). You're on plaquenil, aren't you, Kelmo?
