I can only speak to the ear symptoms - Had that (just that, at the time) and an Otoneurolaryngologist told me it was reflexive spasming of the tiny muscles that attach to the tympanic membrane in the ear. And some people have it so bad and so often they get surgery to cut them Of course - he couldn't say WHY they were spasming.... In your case that would be way more important.

Talked with the lyme doc yesterday. She didn't really have any answers, but felt it was most likely a variation of hypercausis (sp?). That doesn't explain why it happens more often when I'm lying down.
She also didn't feel it was important to get a second opinion on the MRI. That's not going to deter me from getting one. I still think it's required.
Am going to continue to investigate and push the issue until I can find an answer. I don't take guesses as gospel.
