Hello,
I am Lemondrop and I have a desire to learn more about Lyme's.
I have a friend that may possibly have this disease and I would like to become more knowledgable.
I am pleased to be here. Thank you for having me.

Welcome, lemondrop! I'm sure you've found by now that there is a ton of information online, a lot of it contradicting itself in too many directions. A lot of us find ourselves online because that contradictory information even finds itself in many doctors' offices; I know I could ask five different doctors here about Lyme (okay, I have), and receive five different answers regarding both diagnosis and treatment. The IDSA and its guidelines on tick-borne diseases is mainly to blame for this, IMHO.
Some people resort to what some consider "Lyme-literate" doctors. This can be beneficial, as these doctors will, in most cases, prescribe longer or more aggressive courses of antibiotics, which is sometimes necessary. Unfortunately, some of these doctors will treat first and ask questions later, or use questionable diagnostic practices ... and a handful of them are downright predators. It makes getting adequate treatment (whatever that may be) very difficult.
I hope you find some of the answers you're looking for.

My friend is nervous about the things she has read and I am willing to work with her to help her learnt more.
I think she needs to learnt something more as she is not good at talking about her pain.
