My Lyme story is a long and winding road, but I'll keep it short.
I was diagnosed with Lyme in February, 2003. I went on doxycycline for 6 months. I stopped and got sick again and tested positive again. I went back on antibiotics and tried nearly every combination of antibiotics and other drugs for the next, oh, 18 months. I stopped and got sick again. So I went back on antibiotics and took them for another, oh, 18 months. I stopped and got sick again. Detect a pattern?
At this point, I'm assuming that I'll always have Lyme -- or whatever it is that keeps making me sick.
Three years prior to my Lyme diagnosis, of which the primary symptom was fatigue, I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid. My experience getting effective thyroid treatment taught me to advocate for myself within the health-care system. More importantly, it taught me that how I feel is more important that what the thyroid test numbers show. I've found the same to be true with Lyme.
I appreciate Ms. Enigma's skeptical approach to all things Lyme and hope to have all of my assumptions and assertions challenged by her!
Jessie

I look forward to being challenged, myself.
