Many of us concerned with the Lyme controversy do not suffer from Lyme but rather have loved ones who do. Internet discussion boards like this one are excellent places for friends and family members to share their experiences. Its important for those of us who care for someone with Lyme to be supportive and understanding.
Lyme disease affects more than just the person suffering the disease. An important issue is the multitude of ways people deal with living with a Lymie I hope this becomes a topic of interest.

I think open communication is very important. If I don't express what is going on with my body, both emotionally and physically, there is no way for most people to know just how rotten I can feel. Now, I don't go around letting the world know that I'm feeling crummy, as that would just be tacky, but I do let my husband know how I'm feeling on a daily basis. It lets him know when he needs to be a little more patient with me, or that maybe he needs to take on more of the housework for a few days and help me stay off my feet. It is also important for me to get that reassurance that I'm not going through this alone, that he is sympathetic to my pain and fatigue, and that he understands I'm doing the best that I can, given my constantly changing limitations.

I know I've been a pill to live with the past week ... complaining about my knee pain for days, and then suddenly moping around, irritable and hormonal for the days following that. I try my hardest not to take my bad mood out on those around me. I'm feeling a little better now, but I'm definitely not out of the woods....
