According to the Charlotte Observer, Dr. Joseph Jemsek went bankrupt because of restrictions and requirements the North Carolina Medical Board put on his practice after finding him guilty of "unprofessional conduct in connection with diagnosing and treating patients with Lyme disease." According to the article, a number of patients testified against Jemsek, some claiming he both misdiagnosed them and failed to inform them that their long-term intravenous treatments went beyond standard treatment, and others attesting that he helped them. You can read the entire article here: www.charlotte.com/living/columnists/karen_garloch/story/282377.htmlWhy do I bring up this article? Not because I have any particular judgment for or against Dr. Jemsek. Maybe he helped some people, maybe he misdiagnosed some others, and maybe he did fail to tell patients all of their treatment options, including the CDC-approved one. I bring up this article because one simple quote caught my eye: Say whatever you want about LLMDs ... but don't you dare believe they're not getting rich off of us....
