Joint pain and inflammation have been a regular part of my life for the past year or so, and thus I've had some time to observe for triggers and relief tactics. I'm curious to see if others have made the same observations:
1. When I get joint pain and/or inflammation, it usually isn't just out of the blue. A knee will go out while I'm training karate; a short while on the phone will leave me feeling as though I have tennis elbow; typing too much will leave me with swollen knuckles or self-resolving cases of "carpal tunnel syndrome." It seems as though my body often assumes injury (or is being irritated enough to respond in inflammation) by what should be considered normal activities.
2. I've found that, if I take ibuprofin or apply a topical analgesic right when I notice an onset of joint swelling (noticeable tightness in the skin over my knee(s) or joint pain/stiffness), I can reduce the average length and severity of both the pain and the swelling. Perhaps others who already use NSAIDs for their joint pain and/or inflammation might play around with this and see if they come to the same results? The way our joint pain and inflammation behave might actually tell us a little more about why many of us are persistently suffering from it ... and, more importantly, what we might do to keep it at an absolute minimum.

When I was really sick, I had joint pain constantly. Mostly in my legs. My knees were inflammed and my doctor at that time told me I had permanent knee damage, well he was wrong.
I believe what helped me get rid of the joint pains and swollen knee's was detoxing. Detox baths, detox foot baths, coffee enema's (yeah, I know it sounds gross) but it works and internal cleansing by drinking greens (I still drink greens, my all time favorite now is Green Vibrance to keep my immune system strong).
It amazes me that Dr. B's guidelines does not include detoxing, why is that? After my experience, I believe that detoxing is just as important as the medicines themselves.

It's interesting how, when it comes to Lyme disease, just about every doctor (doesn't matter what kind) seems to have a different opinion about just about every little detail. It's absolutely mind boggling.

Thats my problem. They cannot all be right. But they CAN all be wrong....
Choosing the right path for yourself, and especially kids, is so difficult and it bothers me that it has to be this difficult. Its 2007 for goodness sakes. We know very little more than we did in the 80's about this!
